Joe Simpson, father to Ashley and Jessica Simpson, has pleaded no contest and has been sentenced to probation in his ongoing DUI case. The 54-year-old was driving in Los Angeles last August when he was stopped and arrested after driving erratically.

According to people.com, Simpson will now be on probation for three years and will also attend a court mandated alcohol education class. Sources close to the family revealed that Simpson had "a couple of glasses of wine at dinner with his wife" which put his blood alcohol over the legal driving limit.

Simpson, a former minister, has no prior arrests and will therefore only face fines if the charges are pressed against him. His case is currently being processed by the Los Angeles City Attorney's office. Joe also made headlines earlier this year when he gushed about his new granddaughter, Jessica's baby girl, Maxwell Drew.
